Installing the BirdBlocker simultaneously with the installation of your solar panels is not only cheaper but also offers you the assurance that no birds will nest under your panels. That is why we recommend placing the BirdBlocker immediately upon installation of your new panels. A sound idea!
To protect the birds, the nests are not allowed to be removed all year round. Officially, you are not allowed to remove the nests between the moment the first twig is laid and the moment the last young has fledged. As a rule of thumb, the period from April 15 to July 15 is observed. . Check your local rules and regulations on this subject.
As a token of our respect for the birds, BirdBlocker supports the Trees For All Foundation. If there are more trees, there are more places for birds to nest.
We recommend installing the BirdBlocker preventively and therefore immediately upon installing the panels.
The BirdBlocker fits on 95% of the conventional panels and sub-constructions (plug-in systems are unfortunately not suitable). Panels with a flat bottom section as in the image below are suitable for assembly with the corresponding clips. The BirdBlocker will be attached to this section.
To determine the number of BirdBlocker strips required, determine the circumference of the panel set (see illustration below). The standard 60-cell panels generally have the following dimensions:
If you have doubts about the size of your panels, you can find the panel type on the invoice for your system. A datasheet for that panel is often available on the internet, where the dimensions will be stated. This way you can easily calculate the total dimensions.
The panels do not need to be removed during assembly. Please note, order a few extra meters, as there will always be some waste cutting material. At least 7 specially developed clips are supplied per meter. Important: the clips are not the same on both sides. The logo should be visible when it is on the black strip. The BirdBlocker can easily be cut with large scissors, secateurs, or wire cutters. To make corners flush, it is best to make miter cuts. NOTE: Proper functioning of the product hinges entirely on a secure installation by the technician!
Once birds have settled under the panels, it is difficult to keep them away. Especially when nests have been built, the birds are tenacious and a persistent problem can arise. The installation of BirdBlocker then offers the solution.
When you install BirdBlocker later, a few extra steps are required. Installers can only enter the roof once all the necessary collective eaves and fall protection equipment has been applied, which entails significant additional costs. Depending on the situation, a (mobile) scaffolding or RSS fence can be used. If the work takes less than 3 hours, one may go on the roof with a fall protection harness. However, when existing nests have to be removed, there is a good chance that the work will take longer than 3 hours and a scaffold will still have to be built to get the job done.
NOTE: Ensure your own safety (fall protection harness/scaffolding) on the roof and stay on the ground when there is considerable wind.
